Word Overload - "Permission"

In case you didn’t know, I like words. A lot. The other day I was thinking specifically about the word permission.

It’s a word that pulls double duty. The first (and most natural) is that of someone in authority granting the ability to take action. I think this is how most people conceive of the word.

But there’s another use. If you’re someone that needs or wants external validation, you’e familiar with this other use. It comes up in emotional situations, situations where doubt exists.
